Western lights

Last night's sunset progressed from soaring beams of diffused light to a brilliant fan of color and shadow across the sky.

While it is still chilly here on the Bay, the hopeful slanting light of a spring evening brings out sailboats on the water and walkers on the bike bath.


This couple out for a stroll happen to be friends, Maureen and Jerry, from a block away. They had just waved and "hello-ed" before resuming their walk.

First day of spring

Curtains of snow hang from the low clouds this evening. None reaches the ground, but we feel its chill.

Chilly! But at least we're still getting some great sunsets to compensate for the usual tardy New England spring, which officially starts tomorrow. (Snow showers are predicted here.) Please do click to enlarge photos.

The sunset vantage point has moved along with the Earth's seasonal angle, so instead of our front porch, I took this from the end of Strand Avenue and the parking lot overlooking Brushneck Cove.

We had light showers this afternoon. They left behind some sparkling jewels on the leafless vines along the walking path.
